Mid-Range V8 Power for High-Performance Sterndrive and Shaft Installations
The YANMAR 8LV350 is a 4.460 L, V8 marine diesel rated at 257 kW / 350 mhp at 3800 rpm, the middle rating in the 8LV series’ three V8 outputs, which span 320 to 370 mhp. Built for new installations and repowers, it covers a broad speed range from 550 rpm idle to 3800 rpm, including twin-sterndrive installations on 30 to 45 ft motor yachts, express cruisers and tenders. YANMAR built the series around five things: clean, interconnective, quiet, powerful and fuel efficient.
Powerful and fuel efficient. Twin-turbocharged, intercooled Denso common-rail direct injection gives the 8LV350 the best power-to-weight ratio in its class from a compact V8 block, with high torque for strong acceleration and fuel consumption optimized for longer journeys.
Clean and quiet. The 8LV350 is certified to EU RCD 2, IMO and EMC standards and US EPA Tier 3 / EPA-C requirements, with the low noise and low vibration the series is engineered for.
Interconnective. Direct plug-and-play connectivity to NMEA and J1939 CAN networks gives smooth integration with any multi-function bridge display. YANMAR’s VC10 and VC20 vessel control systems and the JC10 (sterndrive) or JC20 (shaft drive) joystick systems are available as options. The engine is offered for shaft drive with Kanzaki KMH50A or KMH50V gears or with the ZT370 sterndrive, and is SOLAS-option and USCG lifeboat approved.

ZT370 sterndrive
YANMAR’s ZT370 sterndrive is matched to the 4LV and 8LV series for new installations and repowers, in single or twin configurations. A hydraulically actuated multi-disc clutch, precision-forged gears and counter-rotating propellers give smooth shifting, strong acceleration and straight tracking, and the large rudder area gives precise handling at low speed. An integrated electromagnetic shift version is available, and the ZT370 pairs with the VC20 vessel control system and the JC10 joystick.

Shaft drive gears
For shaft-drive installations the 8LV350 is supplied with Kanzaki KMH50A (8 degree down angle; ratios 1.67, 2.13, 2.43) or KMH50V V-drive (12 degree; ratios 1.22, 1.58, 2.08, 2.47) gears. ZF gear options are also available; ask Mastry for the right match to your hull.
VC20 vessel control system
YANMAR’s second-generation vessel control system for all electronically managed YANMAR engines. A J1939-based CAN-bus system with dedicated engine networks, a standard emergency back-up panel and NMEA connections for other onboard systems. Controls every engine and transmission function and displays engine alarms and diagnostic codes.
JC10 joystick, sterndrive
Joystick control for twin 4LV and 8LV engines with ZT370 sterndrives, for new boats or retrofit. Boost and docking modes, electronic progressive steering, sideways and diagonal movement, 360 degree rotation, and optional second and third station kits.
JC20 joystick, shaft drive
Inboard joystick system for motorboats, powerboats and catamarans with twin YANMAR common-rail engines. Press the joystick in the direction you want to move; the JC20 engages the bow thruster and adjusts engine speed for precise maneuvering.
YD42 display
Compact full-color multi-function display in modern glass styling. Shows engine speed, load, oil pressure and coolant temperature alongside wind, speed, depth and AIS data, and reads YANMAR engine alarm and diagnostic codes.
YD25 panel
Compact switch panel with a 2.5 inch LCD showing all YANMAR engine data, alarms and diagnostic codes. Integrates with multifunction displays and glass helms, or serves as a standalone instrument on smaller vessels.
