Warranty information

Mastry administers warranty for the YANMAR and Suzuki engines we distribute, on the manufacturers’ own terms. Only an authorized dealer can file a claim, so if you think a repair is covered, start with yours.

What the coverage is

Mastry matches the manufacturer’s warranty, so the terms below are YANMAR’s and Suzuki’s own. Your dealer holds the full terms and confirms what applies to your engine.

YANMAR marine engines

All new YANMAR Marine Products include a Limited Warranty. The exact term depends on how the engine is used. Refer to the Limited Warranty Handbook for full legal terms.

FAQs

What owners ask most about coverage, registration and claims. For anything else, our warranty team is in Clearwater.

Who files a warranty claim, me or my dealer?

Your dealer. Only an authorized dealer can file a warranty claim: they raise it with Mastry as part of the repair and we administer it from Clearwater. If you think a repair is covered, start with your dealer.

Is my engine under warranty, and for how long?

It depends on the engine and how it is used. For a YANMAR marine engine the terms are YANMAR’s own, set out above and in full in the YANMAR Limited Warranty Handbook. New industrial engines carry 2 years or 2,000 hours. On an industrial repower, a remanufactured engine carries 1 year on the parts replaced, and a new replacement engine 1 to 2 years depending on its level of completeness. A new Suzuki outboard carries five years for recreational use, three years for a rental or boat club, and one year in commercial service.

How do I register my engine?

It depends on the engine. A YANMAR marine engine is registered on YANMAR’s Marine Support Portal. A YANMAR industrial engine is registered with Mastry, using our registration form. A new Suzuki outboard is registered by the dealer who sells it.

Who can get the Extended Warranty?

Owners of eligible engines in Leisure, LDC, or Charter usage who register within 12 months and follow all maintenance requirements. Excluded: sail drive, stern drive, marine gear.

What if I register late?

Registration after 12 months may forfeit eligibility.

Does non-authorized workshop maintenance count?

No. Only YANMAR Authorized Dealer maintenance qualifies. Find a YANMAR marine dealer near you on our dealer map.

Can coverage transfer to a new owner?

Yes—remaining warranty can transfer if updated via the Support Portal; inspection may be required.

Do I have to use genuine parts?

In practice, yes. YANMAR builds its genuine parts to the ISO 9001 standard from what it describes as the same materials, machinery and production methods as the original equipment; Suzuki tests each genuine part against its own standards for performance, quality, durability and safety. More to the point, one of YANMAR’s conditions for keeping the Extended Warranty active is to “Use YANMAR Fluids and Yanmar Genuine Parts” — so a cheaper filter is only cheaper until something fails.

Do you support engines you did not sell?

Yes, within our territory. If it is a YANMAR in the Americas, or a Suzuki from Maine to Florida, the dealer network, the parts and the schedules apply regardless of where the engine was bought.
