YANMAR E‑Saildrive

Electric power in the space your diesel already occupies

The YANMAR E-Saildrive is YANMAR’s first electric propulsion product: a 48 V drive with the motor, saildrive and cooling in one sealed unit, made for day sailors and cruisers up to 40 feet, depending on displacement.

YANMAR designed it as a drop-in replacement for the YANMAR YM diesel, one of the most popular sailboat engines. No hull modifications are needed.

It fits where your YM sits

If your sailboat has a YANMAR YM today, you already own the space an E-Saildrive goes into.

What to expect under way

Electric range is counted in hours, and YANMAR publishes the hours. Every SDe model is S2‑60 rated: a full hour at full rated output, in 30°C sea water and 50°C air.

That covers the work an auxiliary does on most sailboats: off the dock, through a calm, onto the mooring. The drive comes with its control system and harnesses; the battery bank and propeller are chosen for your boat and are not part of the standard delivery.
