Mid-Range Power in YANMAR’s 6LF Series

The YANMAR 6LF530 is a 6.728 L marine diesel rated at 390 kW / 530 mhp at 3000 rpm, the middle of the 6LF series, which covers 485 to 550 mhp. The 6LF is YANMAR’s compact and powerful common rail diesel engine, built for planing and semi-planing vessels in recreational and light-duty commercial use. It expands YANMAR’s line with higher horsepower, in the largest common rail, electronically managed marine diesel line-up in the industry. YANMAR built the series around five things: clean, interconnective, quiet, powerful and fuel efficient.

Powerful and fuel efficient. YANMAR’s proprietary fuel mapping and a larger mixing elbow deliver reliable, consistent output performance, with a power density of up to 82 mhp per liter on the 550 mhp model.

Clean and quiet. The 6LF530 meets EPA Tier 3 and EU RCD Stage 2 emissions regulations and provides a wide range of fuel compatibility to meet requirements for various government service applications, with noise reduction technology for quieter operation.

Interconnective. Direct connectivity to NMEA and J1939 CAN-bus networks gives smooth integration with any multi-function bridge display. The 6LF530 is controlled electronically by the YANMAR VC20 vessel control system, for up to three engines with four stations, and is available with the JC20A joystick for twin shaft-drive installations. It is offered for shaft drive with ZF280-1, ZF280-1A, ZF286 or ZF286A gears, with single- or 2-pole electrical installation and secondary alternator options for complex applications.

  • Powerful: 390 kW / 530 mhp at 3000 rpm, with proprietary fuel mapping and a larger mixing elbow for reliable output
  • Fuel efficient: optimized fuel consumption for longer journeys and cost savings
  • Clean: meets EPA Tier 3 and EU RCD Stage 2, wide fuel compatibility
  • Quiet: noise reduction technology for quieter operation
  • Interconnective: VC20 vessel control system for up to three engines with four stations; JC20A joystick for twin shaft drive
  • Shaft drive with ZF gears, 780 kg / 1720 lb dry weight without gear

YANMAR VC20 vessel control system

VC20 vessel control system

YANMAR’s second-generation vessel control system for all electronically managed YANMAR engines. A J1939-based CAN-bus system with dedicated engine networks, a standard emergency back-up panel and NMEA connections for other onboard systems. Controls every engine and transmission function and displays engine alarms and diagnostic codes.

JC20A joystick, shaft drive

Inboard joystick control system for twin shaft-drive YANMAR common-rail engines, for powerboats and catamarans alike, in new installations or retrofit. Engages the bow thruster and adjusts engine speed for easy docking and maneuvering in tight waterways or marinas, with accurate, responsive and intuitive control.
