The Bass Boat V6: 250 HP on the Big-Block Platform
The Suzuki DF250SS is a 4028 cc V6 four-stroke outboard rated at 250 hp across a 5300-6300 rpm full-throttle operating range, the mechanical-control trim of Suzuki’s big-block V6, built for tournament bass boats. Suzuki builds it around a 55-degree V6 DOHC 24-valve powerhead shared with the DF300AP, an offset drive shaft with 2-stage gear reduction and Suzuki Lean Burn Control.
Powerful and efficient. The DF250SS puts the DF300AP’s 4028 cc 55-degree V6 DOHC 24-valve powerhead behind remote mechanical shift and throttle, tuned for hole shot and mid-range punch without the added weight or cost of digital controls — Suzuki’s own description calls it the first 250 hp V6 four-stroke built specifically for tournament bass boats. Suzuki Lean Burn Control leans the fuel mixture from low speed up into the cruising range for better fuel economy.
Easy to live with. An offset drive shaft with 2-stage gear reduction turns a large-diameter propeller for strong acceleration out of the hole, and O2 sensor feedback keeps the air-fuel ratio in check across the full rpm range. Every DF250SS comes with remote mechanical shift and throttle standard.
Built for saltwater. Suzuki’s Anti-Corrosion System applies a specially formulated finish directly to the outboard’s aluminum surface, which allows maximum bonding and helps protect the parts that are constantly exposed to saltwater. The DF250SS is offered in Matte Black.
