25 HP with Tiller Handle and Power Trim and Tilt on a 20 in Transom
The Suzuki DF25ATHL5 is a 489 cc three-cylinder four-stroke outboard rated at 25 hp across a 5000-6000 rpm full-throttle operating range, the tiller-handle, power-trim-and-tilt build of Suzuki’s DF25A, in the Portable range that runs from 2.5 to 30 hp. Suzuki builds it around a set of named technologies: battery-less electronic fuel injection with Lean Burn Control, roller rocker arms, an offset crankshaft, a direct air intake and the Suzuki Anti-Corrosion System.
Powerful and efficient. The 489 cc three-cylinder powerhead pairs Suzuki’s battery-less electronic fuel injection with the Lean Burn Control System, which Suzuki credits for class-leading fuel efficiency. These are the first outboards in their class with roller rocker arms, giving smoother action and less friction, and the offset crankshaft smooths piston movement for greater operating efficiency. A direct air intake and ventilation system feeds the engine cooler air.
Easy to live with. The DF25ATHL5 is built as a tiller handle model with power trim and tilt on a 20 in transom. Electric start turns it over, and it weighs 163 lb dry. Engine monitoring LED indicators keep you informed of operating conditions, the charging system puts out 12 V, 14 A, and an accessible engine flush port makes freshwater flushing straightforward after a day in salt.
Built for saltwater. Suzuki’s Anti-Corrosion System puts a multi-layer protective finish on the aluminum surfaces that are constantly exposed to saltwater. The DF25A carries a California Air Resources Board 3-Star rating.
- Battery-less electronic fuel injection with Lean Burn Control
- First in class with roller rocker arms for smoother action and less friction
- Offset crankshaft and direct air intake for operating efficiency
- 489 cc three-cylinder powerhead, 25 hp at 5000-6000 rpm
- Tiller handle with power trim and tilt
- 20 in transom, 163 lb dry weight
- Engine monitoring LED indicators and an accessible engine flush port
Rigging. This is one specific build of the DF25A, not the model line. Suzuki’s model codes read left to right from the horsepower, with T for power tilt, H for a tiller handle, and S, L or X for a 15, 20 or 25 in transom, so a tiller handle model with power trim and tilt on a 20 in transom reads THL.
