The Largest Gear Reduction in Its Class at 75 HP

The Suzuki DF75A is a 1502 cc four-stroke outboard rated at 75 hp across a 5000-6000 rpm full-throttle operating range, the entry point to Suzuki’s largest-displacement Mid Size block, which runs 75 to 90 hp. Suzuki builds it around the largest gear reduction in its class at 2.59:1, an offset driveshaft for a more compact engine, a streamlined gear case with a new high-efficiency propeller, digital sequential electronic fuel injection, a Tilt Limit System and a self-adjusting timing chain.

Powerful and efficient. The offset driveshaft moves the powerhead closer to the front of the outboard, shifting its center of gravity forward for a more compact engine, less vibration and stable steering. Behind it, a two-stage gear reduction between the driveshaft and the gear case gives the DF75A a 2.59:1 final gear ratio, the largest in its class, letting it turn a large-diameter propeller for high propulsive efficiency and strong acceleration even under load. Suzuki also redesigned the lower gear case with a hydrodynamic shape that cuts drag by up to 36% compared to a conventional design, paired with a new, more efficient propeller built to take advantage of the extra torque.

Easy to live with. The DF75A reads throttle setting, engine rpm, cylinder wall and intake air temperature and atmospheric pressure in real time through its digital sequential electronic fuel injection, timing each injection for smoother, faster acceleration, crisp throttle response and reliable starts in any temperature. The timing chain runs oil-bathed and self-adjusting, with no scheduled maintenance, and a Tilt Limit System prevents the outboard from tilting past a safe angle and damaging the boat or the motor. The optional Suzuki Troll Mode System adjusts engine speed in small increments from idle for precise slow-speed control.

Built for saltwater. Suzuki’s Anti-Corrosion System applies a specially formulated finish directly to the outboard’s aluminum surface, which allows maximum bonding and helps protect the parts that are constantly exposed to saltwater. Suzuki builds the DF75A to be the lightest in its horsepower class, finished with a three-dimensional chrome emblem and offered in Pearl Nebular Black or white.

  • 2.59:1 final gear ratio, the largest reduction in its class, for a large-diameter propeller
  • Offset driveshaft for a more compact engine, less vibration and stable steering
  • Streamlined gear case and new high-efficiency propeller cut drag by up to 36%
  • Digital sequential electronic fuel injection for smooth, fast throttle response
  • Self-adjusting, maintenance-free oil-bathed timing chain
  • Tilt Limit System guards against damage from over-tilting
  • Optional Suzuki Troll Mode System for precise slow-speed control
  • Lightest outboard in its class, 343 lb dry weight

Rigging. The DF75A is rigged to order with remote mechanical steering standard and a tiller kit optional. Every DF75A has electric start and power trim and tilt as standard. Contact your Mastry dealer for the right rigging for your transom.
