Automatic Whole-Home Standby Power at 20 and 26 kW
Briggs & Stratton PowerProtect DX residential standby generators are installed permanently outside the home and start automatically when utility power fails, running on the home’s natural gas or liquid propane supply. Mastry offers two models: the PPDX20, rated 20 kW on either fuel, and the PPDX26, rated 26 kW on liquid propane and 24 kW on natural gas. Both deliver 120/240 V single-phase power at 60 Hz.
Both models run on the same Vanguard commercial-grade engine, a 993 cc V-twin at 3600 rpm with full-pressure lubrication and an electronic governor. The GC-1032 controller starts the generator automatically, runs a 16-second weekly exercise, and shuts the engine down on low oil pressure or high temperature, with an LED display that shows fault codes.
The aluminum enclosure is rated for winds up to 186 mph, and the generators are rated to operate from -20 to 104 F. Briggs & Stratton backs both models with a 10-year limited warranty covering parts, labor and travel in the US and Canada; see Briggs & Stratton’s warranty for complete terms.
Fuel consumption on the Specs tab is Briggs & Stratton’s estimate for normal operating conditions; actual use varies with elevation and household load. Sound levels are measured to ISO 3744 at 7 meters. These generators are built for standby use, not prime power.
