Style Meets Performance on Electric Power
The Ilmor ION 6kW is a premium 48 V electric outboard with a brushless DC motor driving the propeller directly. Its power figure is 6 kW, which Ilmor describes as 6000 W of input power. Each ION is handcrafted and hand-assembled in Michigan, and it is built for salt water and fresh water alike.
Quiet and effortless. Ilmor engineered the ION for smooth, ultra-quiet operation and a deliberately unhurried pace on the water, with a level of integration Ilmor describes as rarely seen in its class.
Integrated by design. ION EASE is a fully integrated hydraulic tilt and trim system, which Ilmor calls a first of its class. ION VUE is the built-in touchscreen display for helm and tiller arm use, with keyless activation through a personalized passcode. ION AURA is the signature LED lighting: a red glow that turns bright white in motion, with customizable colors and programmable light settings. ION CONTROL is the remote throttle, top-mounted as standard with a side-mount option.
Configuring it. The ION 6 comes in three shaft lengths, S, L and XL, with a three-blade propeller as standard and a five-blade propeller as an option. It runs on a 48 V system, with Ilmor’s own ION lithium-ion battery pack or a lead-acid configuration. Specify shaft length, propeller, throttle mount and battery configuration on the quote.
What to expect under way. Ilmor publishes runtimes of 40 minutes at full throttle, 4 hours at half throttle and 11 hours 26 minutes at slow speed, with ranges of 9.3, 17.6 and 34.3 miles. Those figures were measured on a Highfield 360e with the Ilmor ION battery pack; Ilmor notes that actual run time and range will vary with conditions and boat setup.
