Core Policy

A refundable core deposit is added to the invoice for all three- and four-cylinder remanufactured, replacement and repurposed engines and short blocks. Refunds are subject to YANMAR’s inspection and approval.

Throughout this policy, “core engine” also means a short block core.

What has to come back

  • Like for like. The core must be the same or a similar model to the engine purchased, assembled with all the same components as supplied on the engine you bought — fuel system, starter, turbo and the rest.
  • Fully assembled, with no visible or repaired cracks or holes in the block, the head, or any other major component.
  • The crank must rotate a full 360° clockwise and counter-clockwise on its original bearings, or deductions may apply.
  • Drained and sealed. All fluid out, all openings covered. Penalties or fines from the shipping company caused by a core that was not properly drained are the shipper’s responsibility.
  • Free of environmental wear — corrosion, rust, fire or abuse.
  • Returned within 60 days of the Mastry invoice date, to YANMAR America Corporation, in the approved crate the engine or short block was supplied in.

What Mastry provides

On shipment of the engine or short block, Mastry supplies a prefilled YANMAR Core Engine Worksheet carrying:

  • Distributor or dealer name, and account number
  • Machine make and model number
  • Core engine model and serial number
  • New engine model and serial number

Mastry also supplies a filled-in YANMAR Core Identification Tag, and provides a YANMAR RGA number by phone, email or fax within 48 hours of request.

Getting the core collected

Once the YANMAR RGA is issued, Mastry schedules a pickup with QW Express. YANMAR pre-pays freight up to $250 for shipments within the continental United States and Canada.

Adding the RGA number to the YANMAR Core Engine Worksheet is the dealer’s responsibility, and every returned core engine must have the completed Core Engine Return Tag attached.

Timing, and what forfeits the deposit

YANMAR provides an acknowledgement with a verified core engine value within 21 business days of the core arriving at YANMAR America Corporation.

Failure to follow any part of this policy may forfeit part or all of the core deposit. Keep copies of all documents for your records.
